Empires: Dawn of the Modern World | Fighters Feeling 2 | Great Justice
I worked as a professional quality assurance tester at Stainless Steel Studios (www.stainlesssteelstudios.com) during the first eight months of 2003 on the triple-A RTS game Empires: Dawn of the Modern World. IGN.com called Empires "a great strategy game" and gave it an 8.8. The two demos for the game can be downloaded here: Single Player Demo | Multiplayer Demo

A Korean battle in the Gunpowder Age.
Fighters Feeling 2 is a group project we created for Bernie Yee and David Sturman's Video Game Design course at Columbia University. As the producer and lead designer for this project, I led a group of eight students as we created an innovative fighting game that uses Dance Dance Revolution pads, creating a fighting/dancing blend based on capoeira, a Brazilian martial art.
On top of designing the core of the game, I kept schedules, made sure the team kept up with its milestones and communicated with our professors, who were essentially our producers. I also created partial design documents such as damage and move tables, recorded sounds for the game, filmed the blue-screened actors who were our fighters and created a simple Maya movie that plays in the menu screen.
The final design document for Fighter's Feeling 2 can be downloaded here: Word | HTML
The four second loopable movie that was featured in our menu can be seen here.

Great Justice was the first school-related game I created. In this fast-paced game, you directly control one character, moving him and shooting, and you indirectly control three allies. You can use the left mouse button to give your allies directions. The gameplay consists of a top down map in which you fight Hello Kitties in a capture the flag game. Most of the art of the game was taken from other media, giving it a retro feel.
I designed the central concepts of the game and I was the level designer. I also created a finite state machine-based AI and I wrote the entire design document.
